Social Media Competition

A rare treat for NU Students of MBA (Finance & Banking)

Social Media Competition

NU organised ‘NU Social Media Competition’ in which the winners got the opportunity to interact with Mr Rajan Anandan, Country Head, Google India on the 19th of July. A total of nine students from MBA (F&B) got the opportunity to have an open discussion on a gamut of interesting topics over a sumptuous lunch. The students were briefed about the Indian arm of the corporation, its offices in the country, functions and teams. Mr Anandan threw light on the fast paced nature of the tasks, objectivity in setting targets and rewards for working at Google. He informed them about the talent recruitment and retention policies, product launches and the influence of work culture and environment on products developed and new products on the anvil including U Tube blockbuster and Google Chromebook. The students got acquainted with the unique feature of Google which is the amount of value it accords to new, promising and implementable ideas. He also talked about the ‘10% Rule’, the policy of encouraging innovation, where the employees devote ten percent of their time on projects of their choice. The students were also appreciative of Google including regional languages so as to enhance the reach and usage of the internet. There was also a brief discussion about the nature of the MBA course offered at NU, its salient features and entrepreneurship. It was indeed a big honour for the students to interact with the head of Google India in this fun and casual environment.
