100% placements, significant rise in CTC, PPOs and number of recruiters; NIIT University hits a home run this season

NIIT University had a phenomenal placement season for the class of 2019, surpassing expectations. Stunning 100% placements* were followed up by many exciting highlights and significant growth in statistics. The highest CTC package went up from Rs. 14.3 LPA in 2018 to Rs. 16.35 LPA this season. Average CTC stood at a handsome Rs. 5.45 LPA. Number of recruiters also rose from 63 to 73 this year with many big names hiring industry-prepared students of the University, thus confirming its status as a powerhouse of education that emphasizes on being industry-linked as one of its core principles.

It has certainly been a season studded with highlights for all eligible students, who opted for placements. To note, 6% students chose self-placements and some opted for higher studies and secured admissions at top educational institutions in India and abroad. For those who sought placements, there was a large pool of big industry brands to choose from. It’s interesting to note that renowned organizations including Cognizant, PWC, IBM, Airtel, EY, Genpact and BigBasket were the bulk recruiters this placement season. They hired NIIT University students for a number of exciting roles that are the perfect stepping stones for their long term career success.

The University offers undergraduate programs in various streams with new age specializations that give students the edge. The placement record for the season proved that its students are much in demand and ready to fill these niche roles in the industry. For example, CSE students bagged career defining roles with top organizations. Some of the recruiters in varied specializations were, Data Science: IBM, Genpact, Cyber Security: EY, PWC, Big Data: Gartner, Fire Eye, and AI: Vintellus, Volswagen.

ECE students from the University were not to be left behind. Some of the companies and domains included, Communications and Signal Process: Airtel, Vodafone, VLSI & Embedded Systems: Ahoy Systems, Smart Joules, Robotics: Bosch, Infra IT Solutions, and IOT: Miconts, Irdeto. The glorious list of recruiters for BT stream included AIIMS, Biocon, CSIR, NCCS and IISC. These noteworthy names, many of whom are repeat recruiters, stand testimony to the strong industry connect NIIT University has built since its inception.

From 6 hiring organizations in 2013, the number has risen to 73 in placement season 2019. In all, no. of participating organizations in Industry Practice (IP) and Placement Process were 145. The industry practice projects by students not only offered them insights into the professional world, but also brought them stunning pre-placement offers. In fact there was a significant rise in the pre-placement offers this year as they rose from 56% the previous season to an eyecatching 72%. The students were clearly prepared to make their mark in their internships.

A lot of credit for the solid preparations goes to CIC, which has been conducting numerous training sessions and programs to imbibe value added skills amongst students. From professional life skills classes to talks with alumni and industry speakers; these sessions helped students with interview skills, resume writing, aptitude, as well as guidance from alumni and industry mentors. Way2session is another initiative designed to improve selection chances of applications from students. The placement results are a validation of those efforts, and have ensured that students step into the professional world with high impetus.
