MTech Educational Technology

Technology is impacting education as never before. Today, it is not just the means of imparting education, but it is also changing the very manner in which learning environments can be designed. The worlds of education and technology have converged to such an extent that ‘Education Technology’ (ET) is an emerging field of knowledge that has the potential to transform the way in which educational institutions teach and students learn, and the way in which organisations conduct business.
Today, organisations across the globe are increasingly placing emphasis on how best to process enterprise information and to mould it to enhance internal efficiency and productivity. As education undergoes a seismic change to keep pace with rapidly growing technological advances, innovation has become the key factor that distinguishes the front runners. As such, there’s a pressing need for Education Technology professionals who can design learning and information systems that enable organisations to improve work processes to bring about a quantum change in both efficiency and productivity.

NIIT University’s (NU) MTech (ET) programme enables its students to assess, design and implement new media and technology initiatives to create effective learning solutions. It is specially designed to create an extraordinary learning architecture that promotes customised improvement in work functions as per institutional requirements. Read more
NU’s MTech (ET) programme prepares students to become effective learning professionals and domain specialists who can develop superior work-integrated technology solutions for both educators as well as business organisations. It prepares leaders who can ensure effectiveness and efficiency of learning processes, thus giving them a strategic professional advantage.

I am an accomplished University Education Assistant Professor successful at teaching graduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students with eighteen years of professional and teaching experience. My Fulbright post-doctoral programme in the USA led me to pursue an MTech ET program at NIIT University to extend my expertise in the advanced abilities of educational technology. In contrast to other universities, NIIT’s MTech ET programme adds value to the Teaching-Learning Process by utilizing an experiential learning and reflection-based approach to teaching. The curriculum enables me to address the requirement for new, higher-order skills and competencies necessary for pupils to succeed in today’s rapidly changing information economy. Moreover, as a research guide, I am able to apply the novel approaches and strategies I learned during the programme to a variety of educational levels, from primary education to Ph.D. programmes.

FAQs

NU recognises the vacuum that exists within institutions due to the absence of ICT-enabled Educational Technology policy and vision, and classroom practices in schools and colleges that are responsible for ineffective teaching-learning. Within business organisations, the lack of awareness of the importance played by ET leads to inefficient business processes. Hence, NU offers this one-of-its-kind programme with inputs drawn from the industry, academia and research bodies.
In-service (and pre-service) teachers and working professionals with a graduate degree in any discipline who are involved in activities for improving internal processes within an institution or organisation or involved in designing training and information systems for external clients as part of institutional or organisational work.
Over 80% of the course time is spent on learning activities drawn from Teaching-Learning or business work and projects, thus enabling a high ROI for sponsoring organisations. It aims to develop global standard professionals who will generate high-end ET off-shore business, effective design and implementation of products, systems and processes leading to substantial efficiencies in development as well as providing quality service to the customer – both internal and external. The programme is also an effective means to promote growth of individuals in the organisation and a means to recognise high potential individuals by providing sponsorship.
