NU Privacy Policy

Privacy Statement

This document is an electronic record in terms of applicable Information Technology laws and the amended provisions thereto pertaining to electronic records in various allied statutes as amended pursuant to the Information Technology laws. This electronic record has been generated by a computer system and does not require further authentication.

Introduction

Your privacy is valuable to us. We do not sell or forward or rent your personal information what you share with NIIT University (in short, NU) on niituniversity.in (in short, the Portal) to any third party for any purposes like marketing, etc. without your explicit consent. This statement of privacy is applicable to accessing the Portal, and any other connected sub-domain names and applies generally to all constituents of NU. Your use of the Portal signifies your acceptance of the NU Privacy Statement.

NU’s Principles to Protect Privacy

In order to protect your privacy, NU has adopted the following principles for the Portal:

a) Security

Wherever your Personal Information may be held within the Portal, NU intends to take reasonable steps to protect it from unauthorised access or disclosure. NU is committed to protecting the security of your personal information. We use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect your personal information from unauthorised access, use, or disclosure. For example, we store the personal information you provide on computer systems
with limited access, which are located in controlled facilities. When we transmit highly confidential information (such as a credit card number or password) over the Internet, we protect it through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.

b) Choice

You may choose whether or not to provide Personal Information to NU on the Portal. The notice by NU on the Portal intends to provide at the point where it collects Personal Information on the Portal, should help you to make this choice. If you choose not to provide the Personal Information we request, you may not be able to access most parts of the Portal in as much as you may be unable to access certain options, offers, and services that involve our  interaction with you. If you chose to have a relationship with NU on the Portal, such as a contractual or other business relationship, the Portal will naturally continue to contact you in connection with that business relationship.

c) Notice

Where NU collects Personal Information on the Portal, the Portal intends to post a purpose statement that explains why Personal Information will be collected and whether NU on the Portal plans to share such Personal Information outside of the Portal or with those working on NU’s behalf on the Portal. Unless the transfer of Personal Information is legally required, NU does not intend to transfer Personal Information without your permission to third parties who are not bound to act on NU’s behalf.

d) Access/Accuracy

To the extent that you do provide to NU on the Portal with Personal information, NU wishes to maintain accurate Personal Information. Where NU collects Personal Information from you on the Portal, its aim is to provide a means of contacting the Portal should you need to update or correct that Information. We also collect certain information from your computer hardware and software, and your activity on our services. This information may include: your IP address, browser type, operating system, domain name, access times and referring web Portal addresses. This information is used for the operation of our service, to maintain quality of our service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the Portal. If for any reason those means are
unavailable or inaccessible, you may send updates and corrections about your Personal Information to the Portal and NU will make reasonable efforts to incorporate the changes.

Your Consent

By using the Portal, you consent to the terms of the Portal’s Privacy Policy and to the Portal’s processing of Personal Information for the purposes given above. There are times, however, when the Portal may need information from you, such as your name and address. When information is needed, the Portal will try (but is not obligated) to let you know at the time of collection, how it will use the personal information. In case NU does not receive any response from you on the Portal to limit the access of your information, it shall be deemed that you consent to such distribution of your Personal Information as mentioned above.

NU’s Use and Disclosure of your Information

NU may use your information for all or any of the following purposes:
A. For alumni interaction or academic and university-related interaction amongst the enrolled students
B. For intra business interaction among various assigns and related entities of NU
C. For providing information about the university to prospective students, parents, industry partners, research partners, job applicants and donors

Affiliated/connected Sites

We offer some of our services in connection with other web sites. Personal information that you provide to those sites may be sent to NU in order to deliver the service. We process such information in accordance with this Policy. If the affiliated sites have different privacy practices then the user is required to read their privacy policies.

Cookies

The cookies installed on the Portal shall be exclusively for the purpose of retrieving information from you which pertain to be useful for the purpose of the activities of NU. Cookies shall, have limited scope, for the purpose of user’s access to various information. We use cookies on our Portal for load balancing requests between the servers, as session identifiers, and to facilitate automatic login. Cookies are small data files that are transferred from a Web server to your browser. These files contain information that may later be read back by the web server for identification purposes. Cookies provide you the ability to re-enter the Portal without logging in if you have chosen the auto login option.

Please note that this Privacy Policy may change from time to time. Your rights under this Policy may be revised without your explicit consent though we foresee most such changes will be minor.
