MSME Idea Hackathon 5.0 – First Round Selection

The first round of selection to shortlist deserving innovative ideas received for the MSME Idea Hackathon 5.0 was organized by the Centre for Innovation Incubation & Entrepreneurship (CIIE) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at NIIT University on August 12, 2025. NIIT University has been recognised as a Host Institute (HI) under MSME Innovative Scheme (Incubation).

In order to shortlist the best ideas out of received 38 ideas, 13 experts (internal & external) were identified. The event was structured around five key themes:
  • 🔹 Low-carbon footprint solutions & technologies
  • 🔹 Stealth, Surveillance, and Cyber Defense Technologies
  • 🔹 Adoption of Industry 4.0 & 5.0 in the MSME ecosystem
  • 🔹 Business upliftment & sustainability in coastal and hilly areas
  • 🔹 Smart & resilient supply chains
Five panels were formed, one for each theme. Prof Prakash Gopalan, President, NIIT University, greeted the panellists in the Senate Room where they were briefed by Dr Vikas Upadhyaya, taking care of CIIE.

The event shifted to the respective classrooms wherein each team showcased its innovative idea before the distinguished panels consisting of industry leaders, entrepreneurs, finance professionals, and subject matter experts.

CIIE student members – Yashvika Taneja (iMBA), Anuva Aggarwal (BTech), Abhishek Kakde (BTech – AI & Data Science) and Sonali Paliwal (BTech) – coordinated the entire event ably.
