Sudip Sanyal

Dr Sudip Sanyal is Professor and Dean, Engineering & Technology. A PhD from Banaras Hindu University, he has over 36 years of teaching and research experience. His areas of research are Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Information Retrieval and Cognitive Modelling.

Prior to joining NU, Dr Sanyal worked as faculty in several leading universities such as the Indian Institute of Information & Technology, Allahabad (IIIT Allahabad), Banaras Hindu University and University of Roorkee. At IIIT Allahabad, he was Dean (Faculty Affairs), Member of Senate, Member of Board of Governors, Dean (R & D) and Chairman, Grievances Cell. He later became Director, Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, at BML Munjal University.

Dr Sanyal has won numerous awards and recognition, including being selected as a Consortium Member of MCIT from 2006 to 2014 for the development of a robust document analysis and recognition system. He also received the Best Software Award at the Conference on Computational Linguistics and Intelligent Text Processing or CICLing 2012.
