NIIT University celebrates National Voters Day 2025

Date: January 25 2025

Time: 4:00 pm onwards

Venue: Auditorium

The Electoral Literacy Club (ELC) hosted a series of engaging and thought-provoking events to celebrate the National Voters’ Day on January 25th, 2025. The event, led by Alisha Sultana and Ansh Bansal, aimed to raise awareness about the significance of voting and encourage students to become responsible citizens.

1. Inter-House Debate Competition: by the Debate club – DebsocNU
2. Voters’ Oath Ceremony
3. Movie Screening by the Cinema club – NUCinesta

The Inter House Debate Competition saw participants engaged in thought-provoking discussions on the theme – State Democracy: Challenges and Opportunities. Representatives from different houses presented well-researched arguments, making the competition intense and engaging. The judges evaluated the participants on their clarity of thought, articulation, and persuasive skills. The debate not only fostered healthy competition but also deepened students’ understanding of the electoral process and its impact on society.

Following the debate, all attendees took the Voter’s Pledge, led by Zaara Ahmed, reaffirming their commitment to exercising their right to vote responsibly. The pledge highlighted the responsibilities of every voter to participate in the electoral process with integrity and awareness, inspiring attendees to contribute to the democratic framework. The ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the importance of active participation in the democratic process. Faculty members, students, and organizers collectively pledged to uphold the values of democracy and encourage voter awareness within their communities.

To conclude the event, a screening of a patriotic movie “Amaran” was held, creating a reflective and inspiring atmosphere for the audience. The movie emphasized themes of national unity and the role of responsible citizens in shaping the nation’s future.

The event successfully instilled a sense of civic responsibility among students. By combining intellectual discourse with a meaningful pledge, NIIT University reinforced the importance of informed voting and active citizenship. The celebration of National Voters’ Day served as an inspiration for students to engage in the democratic process and contribute to a stronger, more participatory democracy.

The National Voters Day is celebrated on the 25th January every year, a day before the Republic Day. It was started in 2011 to create awareness and encourage the youth to begin voting. The theme of 2025 is a continuation of last year’s theme – “Nothing like voting, I vote for sure”. To know more about National Voters Day, do visit:
