NU celebrates National Science Day 2023

NU celebrates National Science Day 2023

Date : February 28th, 2023
Time: Morning and Evening
Venue: Meeting Room 301

NU celebrated the National Science Day on February 28th 2023. On this day in 1928, the late Sir C V Raman, a renowned physicist announced the discovery of the famous ‘Raman Effect’ to the world. He was awarded with the Nobel Prize in Physics for this discovery in 1930.

In 1986, the Government of India took the decision to celebrate February 28 as the National Science Day. Each year a theme was announced by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication and various activities were conducted centered around the theme.

This year the theme is ‘Global Science for Global Wellbeing’ in keeping with India’s effort to take global leadership to lead us to a better and more sustainable world. The day began with an online quiz presented to all at the University. The winners of the quiz were acknowledged through a congratulatory email.

In the evening there was a discussion in MR 301 led by Prof. Rajesh Khanna, President, NIIT University. The objectives of the National Science Day were revisited and the group came up with several suggestions that NU can take forward.
