In the times of global pandemic, people all over the world have realized who the real heroes are. Healthcare professionals, delivery services and many more have been on the frontline trying to ensure that people’s life aren’t affected adversely. The gravity of doing her Industry Practice with an online grocery chain and delivery service like Big Basket is not lost on NIIT University student Muskan Gupta. “Most interns get to work on dummy projects, but I am working on a live project with real life outcomes,” she says as he experiences the highs of a stimulating internship.

The BTech Computer Science and Engineering student, Class of 2020 is interning as a Software Engineer with the Bangalore based leading brand. Muskan is also being paid a handsome stipend of Rs. 25000 per month. As she prepared for the selection process she knew there was a lot at stake and prepared for it accordingly. “After the resume screening we had to go through a Hacker Rank Coding test for respective positions. The CIC had offered us all the relevant information I felt prepared to deliver during this competitive and challenging process,” she says.

But being prepared for the selection is one thing, feeling confident to take on the responsibilities in the professional spheres is quite another. Muskan however was completely geared up to put her best step forward for the internship. “I am working as a Software Engineer on Big Basket’s live projects. Our college had enough projects in its curriculum to develop basic skills required in any industry sector. So I was definitely feeling prepared to test my mettle in a professional work environment and I believe I am managing to pull it off,” she says strongly.

For Muskan the best part about the Industry Practice is that she is being acquainted with real life, every day challenges on the ground. She tells us that since the project was built from scratch, every decision from creating the architecture to coding was taken by the team members collectively. “You hear of students working as interns on dummy projects but this is a completely different ballgame. Working on this live project has given me the opportunity to keep up with the latest trends and technologies,” she says knowing that these new age skills will give her the edge in her career.
